Best of Street Style-Jaipur Literature Festival 2017

It was 10th anniversary of the most awaited event of the year i.e. Jaipur Literature Festival 2017. This was my 5th year at JLF & I was very much excited, I was literally preparing for it for a week to be precise. The Lit fest plays a silent role in staging street fashion of people from around the globe & a great platform to exchange ideas with people from all walks of life. This year as I was shooting photo stories for various publications, that allowed me to meet like minded folks & to know a bit about them.

So here are my top 10 picks of best of street style at Zee Jlf. Please comment below & let me know your thoughts about this photo story.

Portraits-Jaipur Literature Festival

Zee Jaipur Literature Festival the annual literary festival happens every year in the heart of pink city Jaipur, Rajasthan. As the festival is just 3 days away so I thought this would be the right time to publish the portrait series which I shot last year in 2016. This year is going to be special as it also marks the 10th anniversary of the festival. There is something mesmerizing about the festival which drags me to Jaipur every year ever since I first volunteered in 2012. The people, the culture & the music everything is so perfect. Whether it’s the diggipuri chai, the venue diggi palace, clueless crowd or the beautiful voice of anchor Catriona Mitchell, I love everything about the festival.

Last year I thought to do black & white series of portraits capturing the important faces of festival in 2016 starting from the festival director William Dalrympal to controversial indian columnist Shobha De. I felt very lucky to capture these intriguing faces very closely. Every portrait is very special for me & I am very proud to share this photo series with all of you.

Street Style – Hair

I will start this blog post with the famous quote by legendary actress Joan Crawford “I think that the most important thing a woman can have-next to talent , of course is her hairdresser.”

Well which clearly tells how important hairstyles are, right hairstyle can add much needed panache to a simple outfit. There is another famous quote which tells the importance of a hairstyle is by American actor Christopher Walken who once said “my hair was famous before I was.”

In India Bollywood remains the strongest fashion inspiration for common people on the streets. However at this year’s Jaipur Literature Festival saw people in some of the most intriguing hairstyles. Talk about color, texture, length & volume people at ZEE JLF had it all.

So here is a photo essay I shot at this year’s Jaipur Literature Festival. The most interesting part is these people are not fashion celebrities , they are common people, tourists, delegates who have traveled to the city of Jaipur exclusively to attend the literature festival. I was so impressed to see lot of people experimenting with their hairstyles. So are you looking out for some hair inspiration?

Style Diaries:Abeer Hoque & Mona Eltahawy

ZeeJLF is a perfect platform to flaunt your personal style, though it’s a literary festival but in recent years the festival has taken a very stylish twist & also became a place to find people fashionably dressed. So I had a great chance of capturing two fierce ladies with strong opinions & style at Zee Jaipur Literature Festival this year, Abeer Hoque & Mona Eltahawy & would like to share & talk about their personal style one by one.

1.Abeer Hoque- is a Bangladeshi American writer & photographer.

Aren’t they fabulous?

Street Style- Quirky Prints

Zee Jaipur Literature Festival 2016 saw women in lot of colorful quirky prints & yes on all the age groups literally. Funky prints are definitely treat to eyes & was fascinated to see how these ladies styled them differently, after all jaipur lit fest is all about donning your personal style. Looking for a quirky style inspiration? Have a look at this photo essay I shot recently at the festival.

Loved the Mac D inspired french fry print with colored reflector sunglasses.

3
You can carry a colorful stole if you are bit hesitant in enbracing a colorful print. You can even tone down the colors of your patchwork top by simply pairing it with denim.
5
We saw quirky prints in various silhouettes.
4
Mix black & white print with colorful print for a soothing touch. An aztec print also works well to keep up with the festive mood at Zee JLF.
1
Prints are not only limited to clothes, you will find them almost everywhere, be it bagpacks, clutch or even on sneakers.
2
Riot of colors.
6
Florals for every age. I love people who dress up boldly without caring much about fashion or trends.
