Street Style India-Sunglasses

There is something undeniably unique about sunglasses. Statement sunglasses are the new street style favorite among New Delhi fashionistas. This season seems to be all about going bold & trying out unconventional combinations. Strong , eccentric & assertive are the words which completely defines these stylish folks I captured at Amazon India Fashion Week 16. So here is small photo essay on people with their sunglasses fetish at the fashion week.

Photo essay-The New Indian Men

What I notice in terms of indian men’s fashion is how dramatic it has became over the past two years. Love how designers are pushing the boundaries whether it is about the new tones of colors, model castings for runway or innovative styling ideas. Something really interesting is happening on the runway & streets of India. Whether it is the new & young breed of indian designers in men’s clothing or models with strong personalities on the catwalk, menswear is definitely shaping into something unique & stylish, like never before. So here is a small photo essay compiling the pictures I took at the major fashion weeks of India as well as the fashion on the streets in last two years which visually defines how menswear has witnessed a drastic change. I feel it is the new era. Don’t you? Please mention your unfiltered thoughts on the comment section below.

Men in distress. Designer Arjun Saluja completely shocked me with this presentation, I was happy that I was able to capture the models so closely, it was kind of an exhibition which gave media a closer look at the clothes & details. Also the casting for this show was done artistically as every model looked poles apart from each other with individual personalities & at the same time all in distress.
IMG_8538
Dhruv Vaish‘s new collection at Lakme Fashion Week was definitely breathe of fresh air as he provided multiple options for men, love the colors, cuts & layering.

Whether it was print on print or the high waisted dhoti pants, it was hard to ignore this collection which was subtle as well as unique at the same time.

Street Style-Indian Men

What’s with indian men these days? It’s all good atleast in terms of style & fashion. Street fashion of indian men is improving year after year. Gone are the days when a well dressed gentlemen was all about suits & tuxedos. Men are opting for bolder choices, now they are seen in bright colors, quirky prints, interesting textures & also with cool hairdos. Be it the accessories or shoes, men are having full fun with the wide range of styles available. I had a great chance to attend both the major fashion weeks( AIFW & Lakme Fashion Week). All I can say is it looks like the street fashion in India is finally emerging & it’s the best time so far to spot trends on the desi streets.

Street Style-Models Off Duty at AIFW A/W 16

We see them on runway channeling attitude & personality according to the designer’s theme & collection. But what is the real side of fashion models? what they like? how they dress up off the ramp? These were the certain questions I had in my mind,  so I stalked the top models of our country for 5 days during Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 16 & this photo essay is the answer. I didn’t want the models to pose for this photo story particularly looking into the camera (like we see in most of the fashion publications & websites) so I just followed them like a paparazzi.

Of course they look amazing on ramp but it’s their off duty style which tells a bit about their personality & the style they follow, isn’t that interesting? Have a look.

Photo essay-Backstage-Dolly J

Ruffled sleeves, chic dresses & pastel colors, yes I am talking about Dolly J’s latest autumn/winter collection at Amazon India Fashion Week. The designer is known for feminine silhouettes with using pretty pastels as her color palette. This time what was surprising was the hint of androgyny in few of the pieces. Love the clean shapes with beautiful butterflies motifs on the hemlines of long dresses. In between the soft pinks & subtle red , black came as a refreshing yet bold surprise in Dolly J’s collection.

Samant Chauhan-AIFW A/W 2016

Samant Chauhan‘s latest collection at Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2016 turned out to be a grand show full of extravagant evening gowns with magnificient details such as zardozi, dori embroidery & silk thread. I was also amazed to see hint of colors this time, as that’s not his signature style. Accessories looked chic & I can see them replacing the typical clutches for evening wear. The collection ‘The Silk Route’ was inspired by the designer’s journey to the routes of Nepal, Tibet and China. The look of the show grabbed the eyeballs & the braided hairdo especially on models Sonalika Sahay, Sucheta Sharma &  Ugochi looked very exotic & high fashion. Fabrics included cotton & Bhagalpuri silk.

I enjoyed watching the show through the lens of my camera & was able to capture the spectacular show. So here is a small photo series on his latest collection.

Street Style-What Bloggers Wore at AIFW A/W 16

Besides runways at fashion week, a lot of fashion happens off the runways too, i.e. street style. Indian fashion blogging scene has evolved and grown over years. Take any fashion week, the style bloggers are the one who makes the fashion crowd look very verve with their unique style & persona. So here are few of the stylish bloggers I captured at recently happened Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 16 in New Delhi.

Photo Essay-Backstage-Dhruv Kapoor

Shooting backstage is always fun, it is the main process room where models are getting dressed up & all not so fashionable things happen. Everybody is running here & there, make up artists are working on giving touch ups at the same time designers/stylists are giving the final touch to the collection, before the models go for catwalk. So I had a great opportunity of shooting backstage for Vogue India Fashion Fund winner Dhruv Kapoor’s Autumn/Winter 16 collection at recently happened Amazon India Fashion Week in New Delhi. The collection was blend of sports-luxe which is also his signature style (Remember the jumpers with  slogans ‘Cool’ & ‘India’ on Deepika Padukone & Ranveer Singh respectively in Vogue India) mixed with evening wear details. Fur with exaggerated sleeves, unfinished hems, buckle straps, sequins & combat boots were the main highlights of the collection.

There were ace photographers like Mehtaab Mann, Manasi Sawant of Elle India & Jimmy Granger shooting the backstage portraits & beauty shots with humongous equipments, directing the models confidently for the perfect shot. I was very much fascinated by seeing top models like Lakshmi Rana, Sony Kaur & Smita Lasrado to name a few posing for the camera backstage. I wanted to capture the ongoing backstage madness so this photo essay focuses on the action going on behind the scenes-making of a successful fashion show.
