Photoessay-Rajasthan Style Fest 16

Pink city’s fashion enthusiasts came together to celebrate last day of Rajasthan Style Fest. The fashion extravaganza saw endless talent display from Paris Fashion Week designer Felix Bendish to Lakme Fashion Week’s Chirag Nainani, from city’s top models  to celebrity showstoppers, the show had it all. What also caught my attention was the unique styling especially the braided hairdos on models looked very verve. The show director & stylist Abhimanyu Singh Tomar successfully bought fashion & style factor together in the Jaipur city to celebrate the last day of Rajasthan style fest. While designer Felix Bendish had everyone captivated with his exaggerated & eccentric accessories, city’s very own designer Gazal Mishra went all patriotic with her line on handloom fabrics, saw models dressed in tricolor (which is a rare sight to see in a fashion event).

I placed my myself backstage(like always) to have a closer look at designer’s creation & also I have a thing for backstage photography which not only allows me to get candid with the models but also to explore a whole new different area of photography. Somehow I also managed to capture some action from the runway too.

Street Style India-Sunglasses

There is something undeniably unique about sunglasses. Statement sunglasses are the new street style favorite among New Delhi fashionistas. This season seems to be all about going bold & trying out unconventional combinations. Strong , eccentric & assertive are the words which completely defines these stylish folks I captured at Amazon India Fashion Week 16. So here is small photo essay on people with their sunglasses fetish at the fashion week.

Photo essay-The New Indian Men

What I notice in terms of indian men’s fashion is how dramatic it has became over the past two years. Love how designers are pushing the boundaries whether it is about the new tones of colors, model castings for runway or innovative styling ideas. Something really interesting is happening on the runway & streets of India. Whether it is the new & young breed of indian designers in men’s clothing or models with strong personalities on the catwalk, menswear is definitely shaping into something unique & stylish, like never before. So here is a small photo essay compiling the pictures I took at the major fashion weeks of India as well as the fashion on the streets in last two years which visually defines how menswear has witnessed a drastic change. I feel it is the new era. Don’t you? Please mention your unfiltered thoughts on the comment section below.

Men in distress. Designer Arjun Saluja completely shocked me with this presentation, I was happy that I was able to capture the models so closely, it was kind of an exhibition which gave media a closer look at the clothes & details. Also the casting for this show was done artistically as every model looked poles apart from each other with individual personalities & at the same time all in distress.

Dhruv Vaish‘s new collection at Lakme Fashion Week was definitely breathe of fresh air as he provided multiple options for men, love the colors, cuts & layering.

Backstage-Ken Ferns

Ken Ferns runway show was definitely a party but what you might not be aware of is the backstage was equally a party in-fact a beachwear Hawaiian party to be precise. Ken Fern showcased his latest spring/summer collection at Jaipur for the first season of IISW (India International Style Week). Models were seen donning colorful floral headpieces, Geek glasses & were covered from head to toe in funky prints. Male models went a step ahead and were seen flaunting bare chested oiled bodies with summer tan & were wearing just printed beachwear shorts.

It seems like the print game is on in India with new designers & labels like Siddhartha Bansal, Quirk box & now Ken Ferns the quirky print trend has finally arrived to add lot of fun to your style. So through this photo essay I am taking you to the other side of runway i.e. backstage & giving you a closer look at Ken Ferns latest summer collection.

Street Style-Indian Men

What’s with indian men these days? It’s all good atleast in terms of style & fashion. Street fashion of indian men is improving year after year. Gone are the days when a well dressed gentlemen was all about suits & tuxedos. Men are opting for bolder choices, now they are seen in bright colors, quirky prints, interesting textures & also with cool hairdos. Be it the accessories or shoes, men are having full fun with the wide range of styles available. I had a great chance to attend both the major fashion weeks( AIFW & Lakme Fashion Week). All I can say is it looks like the street fashion in India is finally emerging & it’s the best time so far to spot trends on the desi streets.

Street Style-Lakme Fashion Week-Fashion Industry’s Insiders

Street Style- Lakme Fashion Week Summer/ Resort 16

Street fashion at Lakme Fashion Week this season was edgy, experimental yet was full of comfy clothes. This photo essay focuses on what Indian fashion industry’s insiders wore at the fashion week which includes fashion designers(of course), also includes fashion stylists, photographer & editors working at the leading fashion magazines of India. I always used to wonder what’s the personal style of leading stylists & editors who creates beautiful visual stories in the fashion publications, how they react to the trends with their personal style & was lucky to spot ( or say stalk) few of them at the fashion week in Mumbai.

Last time I did post on male models at the fashion week (and received great response, thank you so much my Ishtailish readers!) & my next post will be about fashion bloggers & their style diaries at Lakme Fashion Week ( Remember the post on Delhi Fashion Bloggers at AIFW? Now it’s time to explore what Mumbai bloggers wore)

Street Style-Male Models at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 16

Though everybody is aware of the fact that modeling in India is women dominated field and it’s quite visible on the runways too, we rarely get to see any menswear show in the fashion weeks over here. But it seems this scene is changing this year & like Amazon India Fashion Week this time, Lakme Fashion Week too witnessed some solo shows on menswear. There was a time when male models  in our country used to be a household name. Remember the 90s supermodels  brigade including Arjun Rampal, Dino Morea, Milind Soman & Kelly Dorji. We used to see them in the pop music videos(Milind Soman in Asha Bhosle’s Raat Shabnami & very famous Made in India music video by Alisha Chinai), Bollywood movies, endorsing big brands & campaigns of A-list designers of our country. Gone are those days? Maybe not, as far as with the current male model scene is concerned the modeling game has slightly changed (a bit). And fortunately some of the male models have made it up to the mark & we often see them in fashion weeks, editorials and advertisement campaigns. This time I thought to do a street style photo story on top male models in our country right now at the biggest platform-Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016.  As far as the style factor goes, most of the models keep it easy as the climate was too hot in Mumbai. Denims & slogan printed T-shirts ruled the male model street fashion. So here is my take on country’s top male model’s street style.
